Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance

The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance will be cancelled if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, or Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal or above is issued by the Hong Kong Observatory after 5pm.

A recognised National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the 67-metre fire dragon adorned with over 10,000 burning incense sticks is paraded by over 300 performers, accompanied by a small LED dragon carried by children. Continuing the tradition that prays for peace and safety, the Dance showcases a cherished, time-honoured custom in Hong Kong.

the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance

Beyond the mesmerising dragon dance, the streets will host a variety of festive installations offering many photo-worthy opportunities. This year, the celebration begins early at Victoria Park, offering photo opportunities from 30 September to 4 October, while a small LED dragon will perform at 7pm from 3 to 4 October, providing a teaser to the festive atmosphere.

Adding to the festive excitement, a series of dynamic performances is also featured, such as a small LED dragon dance, martial arts, drum performances and dances, some of which incorporate traditional Chinese elements.​ The streets will be decorated with various festive installations and photo spots, such as the luminous Giant Moon, offering a rich and joyful Mid-Autumn experience. This year’s live broadcast will not only cover Victoria Park but also extend to Tung Lo Wan Road, enabling a wider audience to join in the celebration.

Tourist-exclusive viewing zone:
A limited number of seats are available for bona fide visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. Register your seat starting from 1 October at the Hong Kong Tourism Board Visitor Centres located at Hong Kong International Airport or Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. Please present your valid travel documents for verification during registration. For enquiries, please contact us.

How to get there

Consider stopping by these captivating Mid-Autumn installations along the way:

  • From MTR Causeway Bay Station, Exit E, walk to Moreton Terrace Temporary Playground to see the mini Fire Dragon installations and history wall of the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance before continuing to Wun Sha Street to watch the Fire Dragon Dance.​
  • From MTR Tin Hau Station, Exit A2, begin by visiting the Fa Pai installation before heading to Wun Sha Street for the Fire Dragon Dance.

Crowd control safety management measures may be in place around the event dates. Please follow on-site instructions.

  • Plan your visit and allow sufficient time to arrive at the event venue. It is recommended to arrive before 9pm.
  • Be mindful of traffic arrangements.​

  • Unauthorised use of drones is prohibited.​
  • Victoria Park may be relatively crowded on 6 October due to the extended Fire Dragon Dance, so plan your visit in advance and pay attention to any on-site traffic notices.​
