Hong Kong Tourism
With the gradual resumption of inbound travel to Hong Kong, HKTB focused its resources in 2022/23 on strategically bringing in various programmes to pave the way for a full-scale revival of tourism. With meticulous preparations and drumming up, HKTB geared up the city to embark on the journey to tourism recovery.
In the first half of the year, when the COVID-19 pandemic still prevailed, HKTB launched a series of promotions to stimulate local consumption and boost local ambience. With the gradual relaxation of social distancing measures, HKTB restaged a series of physical mega events to showcase Hong Kong’s vibrancy to the world, while taking public health and safety into account.
At the same time, HKTB continuously promoted Hong Kong globally, strengthened the city’s positive exposure in Mainland and overseas markets through showcasing the latest travel experiences and attractions in town, so as to entice travellers to make Hong Kong their travel destination.
In late 2022, when pandemic control-related inbound restrictions were gradually lifted, Hong Kong’s tourism doors were opened at the beginning of 2023. As such, HKTB formulated “Hello Hong Kong” global promotional campaign. The campaign was officially launched in February and successfully conveyed the message of the full reopening of Hong Kong’s tourism doors and resumption to normalcy to the world, extending a warmest greeting to travellers around the world through a number of strategies.
In parallel, HKTB maintained close communication with the travel trade and tourism-related sectors to enhance the quality of Hong Kong’s tourism products and services, and promoted the sustainable development of Hong Kong’s tourism industry through a series of educational and community programmes.
