Guo Pei, China’s first couture artist, seamlessly blends Chinese cultural heritage with international influences and artistic expression. For nearly 30 years, Guo’s breathtaking runway collections have captivated both fashion and art enthusiasts. In the first major exhibition of Guo’s work in East Asia, M+ will present more than forty stunning haute couture pieces, including key collections and early designs. The exhibition is organised into five main themes, highlighting Guo’s boundless imagination and creativity, and demonstrating the influence of her work across media, eras, and cultures. It showcases Guo Pei's unique artistic style, which draws inspiration from imperial Chinese dress etiquette, European royal fashion, architecture, and the botanical world. Her remarkable creations reflect her innovative approach to tradition and craftsmanship, revealing the transcendent power of fashion and art.

In honour of the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, the exhibition series ‘Glorious Voyage: Splendid Achievements of the People’s Republic of China in Its 75 Years’ features three themes: ‘Scientific Breakthroughs’, ‘Era of Intelligence’, and ‘Leapfrog Development’. These exhibitions illustrate key developments and achievements in social culture, infrastructure, and technology, highlighting the remarkable progress made by China over the past 75 years.

Heritage Fiesta 2024 (from 1 October to 30 November), offers a unique opportunity to explore 11 declared monuments and graded historic buildings that showcase Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage. Blending Chinese and Western architectural styles, these sites highlight the city’s role as an East-meets-West cultural hub. Free guided tours will be available throughout the event period, and a roving exhibition will continue until 27 January 2025.

With Yim Tin Tsai as the centre, the Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival has expanded to include Sharp Island, Kau Sai Chau, and High Island. Themed ‘Joy Again, Isle’, the festival blends the rich history, local culture, heritage, and natural environment of Sai Kung Hoi with art, transforming the islands into places of connection and healing through the arts.

In its third year, themed ‘Joy Again, Gather’, the festival continues in Yim Tin Tsai, Sharp Island, Kau Sai Chau, and High Island, exploring different forms of ‘gathering’. Artworks composed of dots, lines, and planes come together, transforming Sai Kung Hoi’s waters into vessels of assembly and creating a unique art-driven reunion. Free guided tours and public programmes on various themes will also be available during the festival.

As part of an annual tradition, Tai Kwun presents the ‘Simple Gifts of Joy’ again this year. A towering 12-metre Christmas tree glows with wonder amidst a Wonderland-themed playground at the Parade Ground, while twinkling pin lights adorn the facades of the historic buildings, lighting up the historic grounds of Tai Kwun. The thrilling festivities range from Christmas carols to ‘Tai Kwun Circus Plays’, an imaginative contemporary circus programme from around the world.

Hong Kong’s largest panda exhibition, PANDA GO! FEST HONG KONG.
The exhibition will showcase 2,500 panda sculptures in eight unique designs, creatively displayed at iconic landmarks with four exhibitions throughout the city, starting in December.

Design District Hong Kong (#ddHK) is a vibrant creative tourism event celebrating authentic culture and creativity by revitalising unique neighbourhoods through design. The new theme, ‘Creative Journey · Infinite Discovery’, invites visitors from around the globe to explore two distinct areas – Tsuen Wan and Sha Tau Kok – immersed in artistic and creative installations that highlight the unique charm of these diverse districts. Market festivals 'Into the Landscape: Eco-art Festival' and 'Sha Tau Kok Seaside Weekend Market' will also be held in Tsuen Wan and Sha Tau Kok, featuring local delicacies, lifestyle essentials, local handmade goods as well as music and local cultural experiences.

Presented by Hong Kong Ballet, the ultimate holiday tradition returns with Septime Webre’s timeless classic The Nutcracker. On Christmas Eve, Clara and the Nutcracker Prince embark on a magical journey through a snowy bamboo forest, battle the villainous Rat King and encounter a host of whimsical characters. From snowflakes to sword fights, The Nutcracker abounds in spectacle and wonder while celebrating our city’s rich cultural tapestry.

Selected performances will feature live accompaniment by Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

Hong Kong’s biggest outdoor shopping extravaganza and carnival – the 58th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo – features 11 thematic zones, including ‘Hong Kong Brands Square’, ‘Food & Beverages Zone’, ‘Grocery & Noodles Zone’, ‘Ginseng, Dried Seafood & Soup Packs Zone’, ‘Beauty & Healthcare Zone’, ‘Fashion & Stylish Products Zone’, ‘Living & Household Zone’, ‘Chillax Zone’, ‘Food Plaza’ and ‘Social Enterprises Zone and Promotion Zone’. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the China-France Year of Cultural Tourism, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, the Palace Museum and the Palace of Versailles have co-organised a new special exhibition ‘The Forbidden City and The Palace of Versailles: China-France Cultural Encounters in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries’.

This special exhibition presents nearly 150 treasures from the Palace Museum and the Palace of Versailles, including nine first-grade national treasures from China, highlighting the rich history of mutual respect, inspiration and exchanges in the realms of culture, arts, science and more between the Forbidden City and Versailles – two distinguished World Heritage Sites – during the latter half of the 17th century and throughout the 18th century, showcasing their enduring friendship and a long legacy of admiration.

Experience the exciting PANDA GO! FEST HK Drone Show over West Kowloon! For the first time in Hong Kong, 1,000 stunning drones will illuminate the night sky, with some carrying dazzling pyrotechnics! These drones will create vibrant panda displays and iconic Hong Kong motifs, while raising public awareness of pandas and immersing you in local culture. Embrace the festive spirit as the charming pandas and the breathtaking skyline of Victoria Harbour unite in a captivating spectacle.

This event will feature top male international tennis stars from around the globe in eight days of competition. With defending champion, Andrey Rublev set to return and defend his title.

‘Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Half Marathon’ returns this year with 8,000 places available. The race has been designated a Gold Label Road Race by the global governing body, World Athletics.

With the support of the International Bowling Federation (IBF), The Hong Kong, China Tenpin Bowling Congress will host the IBF World Cup in January 2025. Approximately 280 bowlers from 32 countries and regions around the globe will compete for the championship title.

For the first time in Hong Kong, about 250 athletes with disabilities from around 20 countries and regions across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania will compete for honours in various levels of singles, doubles and team events.
