Lamma Island Hiking Tour

Explore an island with 6,000 years of fishing history on this away-from-it-all historical guided hike.

The journey begins at the colourful fishermen’s typhoon shelter in Aberdeen, where you’ll climb aboard a slow boat to Lamma Island, passing photogenic views of southern Hong Kong Island.

You’ll then get off the boat at Mo Tat Wan, which is a small village on the northeast part of Lamma Island. Passing beautiful old feng shui woods, you’ll wander along a lovely coastal path on this peaceful island which has no motorised transport. Get the camera ready again for the hillside climb towards majestic views over the shipping lanes of the South China Sea, the neighbouring islands of Cheung Chau and Lantau Island, and the unspoilt south.

After poking through an atmospheric Tin Hau Temple on the waterfront, your stomach will thank you for a well-earned seafood lunch at Sok Kwu Wan, where open-air restaurants offer views of the bay’s fish farms.

Leaving the numerous fishing boats, platforms and fish-breeding nets behind, you’ll then take a scenic walk past Second World War ‘kamikaze’ tunnels and the delightful sandy bay of Lo So Shing Beach.

Finally, at the bustling village of Yung Shue Wan, you’ll stroll down narrow streets, absorbing the relaxed atmosphere. Reaching the old pier, a fast ferry awaits to speed you back to the hustle and bustle of Central.
