Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, 'Hong Kong Pals' is a volunteer programme that encourages people from all walks of life to share their personal recommendations and tips so that visitors can explore the city like a local. Tourists can simply pop into our visitor centres and chat to a ‘Hong Kong Pals’.
Alice Lee:
“I began working as a full-time volunteer after my retirement. Greeting visitors from around the world as a Hong Kong Pal is one of my favourite things to do, especially the Meet-the-Pals programme where I can share my experience in making food for festivals. Welcome to our volunteer family.”
Edmund Chan:
“This is my sixth year as a Hong Kong Pal, and all the colleagues I’ve met through the programme have been very helpful and friendly. When I work in the Visitor Centres, I feel like I’m part of one big family. I would highly recommend this programme to anyone who is passionate about developing tourism in Hong Kong.”

“How do you stay connected and aware of what’s happening in a vibrant city like Hong Kong after you retire? How can you contribute when you still consider yourself still capable of doing something for the community? The answer for me was to join Hong Kong Pals. This volunteer service not only opened my eyes to what’s going on in the city but also enabled me to share my knowledge and promote Hong Kong to visitors from all over the world.
