The HKTB Youth Academy was launched in 2021 to encourage young people to go out into the community and learn more about their home city and the tourism industry through educational and experiential activities. It inspires young people to unleash their imagination and potential and showcase Hong Kong’s timeless appeal with fresh perspectives.
The HKTB teamed up with universities in Hong Kong during the pandemic to train students to become tourism ambassadors. They were taught how to design itineraries and give virtual tours of Hong Kong’s distinctive neighbourhoods to students from Mainland China and overseas.
University students as well as primary and secondary school pupils were invited to explore Hong Kong neighbourhoods and make art creations to tell unique, authentic stories about the city’s rich and diverse heritage. A community art exhibition called “Journey To West Kowloon” was organised in partnership with the Cultural and Creative Arts Department of the Education University of Hong Kong, and the “Hong Kong Neighbourhoods” Digital Art Exhibition was staged in collaboration with the School of Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong.
