Guo Pei, China’s first couture artist, seamlessly blends Chinese cultural heritage with international influences and artistic expression. For nearly 30 years, Guo’s breathtaking runway collections have captivated both fashion and art enthusiasts. In the first major exhibition of Guo’s work in East Asia, M+ will present more than forty stunning haute couture pieces, including key collections and early designs. The exhibition is organised into five main themes, highlighting Guo’s boundless imagination and creativity, and demonstrating the influence of her work across media, eras, and cultures. It showcases Guo Pei's unique artistic style, which draws inspiration from imperial Chinese dress etiquette, European royal fashion, architecture, and the botanical world. Her remarkable creations reflect her innovative approach to tradition and craftsmanship, revealing the transcendent power of fashion and art.

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, the Hong Kong Palace Museum proudly presents a new special exhibition, ‘The Origins of Chinese Civilisation’. This exhibition features artefacts from the ‘Project to Trace the Origins of Chinese Civilisation’ along with significant archaeological discoveries marking the centennial of modern Chinese archaeology. Showcasing nearly 110 rare and recent finds, including 16 grade-one national treasures, most of these artefacts are being displayed in Hong Kong for the very first time. This is one of the most comprehensive exhibitions dedicated to exploring the origins and achievements of Chinese civilisation in recent years.

In honour of the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, the exhibition series ‘Glorious Voyage: Splendid Achievements of the People’s Republic of China in Its 75 Years’ features three themes: ‘Scientific Breakthroughs’, ‘Era of Intelligence’, and ‘Leapfrog Development’. These exhibitions illustrate key developments and achievements in social culture, infrastructure, and technology, highlighting the remarkable progress made by China over the past 75 years.

Heritage Fiesta 2024 (from 1 October to 30 November), offers a unique opportunity to explore 11 declared monuments and graded historic buildings that showcase Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage. Blending Chinese and Western architectural styles, these sites highlight the city’s role as an East-meets-West cultural hub. Free guided tours will be available throughout the event period, and a roving exhibition will continue until 27 January 2025.

“Live out the Cinematic Charm of Hong Kong” Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In Exhibition promises both locals and travellers an exhilarating journey through recreations of the iconic scenes from the movie. The first phase of the exhibition is set at the Arrival Hall of Hong Kong International Airport, where visitors will be greeted by the meticulously restored film set upon arrival. The second phase of the exhibition will bring the set home to the AIRSIDE shopping mall in Kowloon City, providing the audience with an immersive indoor experience that is unlike any other.

Hong Kong will host the fourth Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival for the first time. Showcasing over 100 fascinating programmes, the festival will be staged in the ‘9+2’ cities within the Greater Bay Area (GBA). With the theme ‘Integration in Diversity – Power and Possibilities’, it will feature performances, museum exhibitions, film screenings and more, highlighting the region's dynamic culture and fostering creative exchange between artists from Hong Kong and the other GBA cities.

Another highlight is the 11th Asian Open Water Swimming Championships, making a long-awaited return after a 12-year hiatus, with competitors vying in a challenging 5 km race.

Virtuosic pianist Chiyan Wong will perform Tsfasman’s Jazz Suite, while the Hong Kong Philharmonic Principal Horn Lin Jiang shines in Glière’s Horn Concerto. Experience the magic of Beauty and the Beast, be swept away by Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, and cap off the night with spectacular fireworks set to the exhilarating 1812 Overture. Join the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for an enchanting evening against the breathtaking backdrop of the Central Harbourfront!

The World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships will be held in Hong Kong for the first time this November. Over 80 countries and approximately 1,200 top athletes are expected to compete in this prestigious championship.
