Yuen Long Shap Pat Heung Tin Hau Festival Procession

The Yuen Long Shap Pat Heung Tin Hau Festival Procession is a traditional celebratory event held annually on the 23rd day of the third lunar month in Yuen Long. Since 1963, it has become an important celebration and is one of the largest Tin Hau Festival events in Hong Kong, recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2021.

A highlight of the festival is the Shap Pat Heung (‘18 Villages’) fa pau (large floral tributes made of bamboo and paper) parade, which boasts a history of over 60 years. This year 37 fa pau groups and performance teams from different villages will present dragon dances, lion dances and other traditional performances.
