Kung Wo Beancurd Factory has been in Sham Shui Po since 1960. Listed in the 2020 Michelin guide, this old-time store evokes nostalgia for many Hong Kong people. The shop’s retro interior, with its green and white mosaic tiles adorning the floor and signage, has a timeless charm.
Kung Wo Beancurd Factory makes tofu and sells various soy-based products that have maintained their popularity over the decades. Using a traditional recipe, their signature tofu puddings are smooth like silk and boast a rich soybean flavour. Every morning, they grind soybeans into soymilk using a large granite stone grinder, then filter it through a piece of gauze. The filtered soymilk is boiled in a big pot and stirred continuously to create a velvety texture. Their beancurd puffs, deep-fried tofu, golden fish tofu and homemade sugar-free soy milk are also worth trying.
